Temporarily

I hope it won't last more than a week. I have so many things I want to write about but I just have to finish translating that book I'm translating now, otherwise I'll become insane - work doesn't disappear when I don't do it, it grows bigger and bigger and soon I'll lay burried under a pile of non-done work... So off I go... See you very soon!

Something

This is a little something, lyrics from "Budha Bar" compilation, that illustrate very precisely my attitude towards love. Not that I am not able to express it in my own words, but when it is already done, why not use it ;)

A lover knows only humility, he has no choice.

He steals into your alley at night, he has no choice.

He longs to kiss every lock of your hair, don't fret, he has no choice.

In his frenzied love for you, he longs to break the chains of

his imprisonment, he has no choice.

A lover asked his beloved,

Do you love yourself more than you love me?

Beloved replied, I have died to myself and I live for you.

I've disappeared from myself and my attributes,

I am present only for you.

I've forgotten all my learnings,

but from knowing you I've become a scholar.

I've lost all my strength, but from your power I am able.

I love myself...I love you.

I love you...I love myself.

I am your lover, come to my side, I will open the gate to your love.

Come settle with me, let us be neighbors to the stars.

You have been hiding so long, endlessly drifting in the sea of my love.

Even so, you have always been connected to me.

Concealed, revealed, in the unknown, in the un-manifest.

I am life itself. You have been a prisoner of a little pond,

I am the ocean and its turbulent flood. Come merge with me,

leave this world of ignorance. Be with me, I will open the gate to your love.

I desire you more than food or drink

My body, my senses, my mind, hunger for your taste

I can sense your presence in my heart

although you belong to all the world

I wait with silent passion for one gesture, one glance from you

Birthday come, Birthday gone

The worst thing about a birthday is that it actually comes to an end. Sooner or later, usually sooner. You wake up in the morning and in a wink of the eye it's already evening, night, end. New day begins and you realize you'll have to wait for a whole year to enjoy another birthday. Some people don't like B-days - I suppose they just don't like the miserable feeling that nobody remembers this date.

Aah, look at all those lonely people...

So it's time for an un-birthday (I've always liked the Mad Hatter, yes). Maybe I should rename my blog to "Un-birthday Party Gifts"? And try to write things that can be considered as gifts for the readers? ;)
I'm planning to give you some Paris moments, some musical revelations (wow, girl, very impressive, yeah ;) ) and some personal thoughts (the weakest part of the program). When (and if) I have time :)

Magical Music Tour

Oookay! So, it's March. MY MONTH! I waited for it for so long... and now I know it's going to end very, very soon. It always is. Everybody knows, dreaming is better than the dream itself. But never mind, I'll dream of summer afterwards :)
So let me share something with you - I'm listening to Yes's "Relayer" for a whole week now and I'm going deeper and deeper... I love it! I can say I'm happy. Some years or months ago I couldn't listen to such music without being left worried and insecure about how I do not understand it. But fortunately I am very persistent when I take a decision and the decision I took was to try as hard as I can to break through it. I didn't know much about progressive rock and anything about jazz for example. And I wanted to know, to understand, to feel - because my firm belief is that people can be taught. Even in art, in music, in whatever. If they desire. And not pushed away with words such: "Oh, if you can't already feel it, forget about it, it couldn't be described, it's impossible to be explained. You just don't have the heart for this". Excuse me! It's nonsense.
So... I was reading, listening, listening, reading, listening and now I feel like I succeeded to push aside a big rock that was blocking the opening of a cave and now I'm standing in a stream of sunlight. I'm certainly not a progressive rock expert but at least this music talks to me now.
Next step - I'm attacking "Faithless". It must be hard...
Now let me give you a piece of blue sky shining between thick clouds...

it runs high

to reach pure beauty

Something Funny

After every flight, Quantas pilots fill out a form, called a "gripe sheet," which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft. The mechanics correct the problems; document their repairs on the form and then pilots review the gripe sheets before the next flight. Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humor.

Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted by Quantas' pilots (marked with a P) and the solutions recorded by the maintenance engineers (marked with an M).

(By the way, Quantas [Australian] is the only major airline that has never had an accident. This report on their upkeep system tells why... :-)

P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement.
M: Almost replaced left inside main tire.

P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough.
M: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft.

P: Something loose in cockpit.
M: Something tightened in cockpit.

P: Dead bugs on windshield.
M: Live bugs on back-order.

P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute descent.
M: Cannot reproduce problem on ground.

P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear.
M: Evidence removed.

P: DME volume unbelievably loud.
M: DME volume set to more believable level.

P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick.
M: That's what they're for.

P: IFF inoperative.
M: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode.

P: Suspected crack in windshield.
M: Suspect you're right.

P: Number 3 engine missing.
M: Engine found on right wing after brief search.

P: Aircraft handles funny.
M: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious.

P: Target radar hums.
M: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics.

P: Mouse in cockpit.
M: Cat installed.

P. Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.
M: Took hammer away from midget

Short story& pictures

Sometimes - I wish it was more often, but we cannot manage it - I and a good friend of mine, we go out of the city on Sundays. Mountain walks with two dogs :)

Last Sunday we went to Plana and fortunately there was snow - not much but enough to feel the winter. My dog Dara got crazy - she loves snow almost as much as I do :) It was foggy and she is not very very brave so sometimes she would just freeze and stare in the mist, trying to see if somebody isn't coming.Last Sunday we headed towards another mountain range - the weather wasn't good, I almost felt it didn't like us.
Everything was grey and sad. Just like somebody has killed all the colours - quietly and it passed unnoticed. You look around and you see the face of the sadness. And the wind - blowing angrily at us... But Dara was extremely happy, she was running and jumping all the time. She found a river and jumped in it, drank icy water and was very proud of herself. It was very funny because shortly afterwards (it was cold) her wet ears and hairy legs were decorated with icicles that she was wearing all the morning.
The forest was wonderful - it was like an enchanting place out of a fairy-tale. There were some thrones - I bet the king of the forest likes sitting there and listening to the silence. Brown leaves covered the soil - soft and thick like a precious carpet. Hundreds of colourful pebbles made me think of a huge treasure-house, scattered everywhere around us. You just have to find the right pebble.

The river offered whimsical ice statues - entrances to a hidden world of small tiny people with clever eyes and fine manners who live underground all summer and come out during the winter. They make snow castles and ice palaces, they give balls in crystal caves where the light dances on million ice surfaces.

In the distance Baba peak was rising over everything.

Very adventurously we walked into a swampy field and when it was time to go back we had to cross a river over a very natural bridge - it was scary, brrr!
At the end - click! I have enough of taking photographs, I think it's about time someone to take a picture of me ;)

Et si je t'aime, prends garde a toi!

Last night I and two girlfriends we went to see "Carmen" at the Sofia Opera.
I know that the National Opera is not very good (and the National Ballet is straightforwardly a real disaster) but we don't have any other chance to listen to operas so there we went.
Carmen is my favourite opera ever. I have seen it many times and I love the music. In my opinion the art of opera combines music and theatre so I pay attention to the acting skills of the singers. Carmen wasn't good. She didn't look well, she wasn't beautiful, I didn't like her voice and she just didn't make me believe in the kind of love she feels. So I was disappointed. Not to mention strange decor and costume ideas (who thought it's good to combine red, orange and pink??), poor ballet-dancers, fat Don Jose... Escamillo was great - both look and voice. Michaella sang quite good but I just can't stand this character.
One advantage is that compared to other National Operas our is very cheap. And as said above I want to see not only hear the opera (this means I'm not keen on buying opera CDs. At least not much.) So I have no choice for the moment.
We usually go out Saturday evening - theatre and then dinner. sometimes piano bar afterwards. Hopefully the music of Carmen is so brilliant that we went out in good mood. But next time we're going to try to see some musical. Hair for example. I have the feeling I'll need iron nerves...
